Historical Tours with Heartland's Bill Landry - The Calderwood, Chilhowee & The "Dragon"

Bring a sack lunch for a day of adventure and learning about our southern Appalachian heritage. Sort out old sayings, stories, and tales in a backcountry setting where nature abounds. We’ll explore favorite places in the Park or along the Little “T,” find an old rock wall or cabin porch, or simply sit, walk, and talk. We’ll also spend time exploring origins of mountain remedies and cures, folkways, travel, people, and adventures through the eyes, experiences, and stories from the author of Appalachian Tales & Heartland Adventures.

Cades Cove Tour - Hear tales of original settlers, heritage of the Park, its natural science features, and animal stories, too, in this beautiful setting.

Overhill Cherokees at Sequoyah Birthplace Museum Tour - Visit the Fort before embarking on an auto tour of Native lands: Toque, Citico, and Chota as well as fascinating sites along the valley of the Little “T” (now Tellico Lake) and lower Little “T.”

Chilhowee, Calderwood, and “Dragon” Tour - Travel Highway 129 visiting Tallassee, Chilhowee, Abrams Creek, and Calderwood, all within a 10-mile drive, before we reach the “Tail of the Dragon”—all without much hiking but stories and gab galore!
