Introduction to Silk Painting

In this course you'll create three articles of beautiful, wearable art. You'll paint a watercolor-like silk crepe scarf, design and paint a silk habotai scarf, and paint a devore' (burnout satin) scarf. This course covers basic techniques for painting and working with silk fabric, including color mixing, salt wash, alcohol techniques, and serti. Information on types of silk paints and dyes, history of silk and silk painting, and varieties of silk fabrics will be provided, as well as tips on how to tie and wear the scarves you paint.
